about

She was know as the "The Lady Upstairs". This song is about an incredibly powerful woman named Dorothy "Dolly" Schiff.

Dorothy Schiff (March 11, 1903—August 30, 1989) was an owner and then publisher of the New York Post for nearly 40 years. She was a granddaughter of financier Jacob H. Schiff. Schiff was interested in social services and reform, and was involved in several welfare groups.

She was certainly a pioneer, a complex woman who was both flirt and boss, frosty heiress and labor champion; though she rejected the feminist label, she strongly believed in the relationship between work and human integrity, hiring more women than the other newspaper bosses of her day.
